Raclette is the name of the distinctive cheese and its correlating dish that originates in the Swiss Alps, with a history that goes back hundreds of years. Once the fare of farmers and shepherds for a midday or evening meal, Raclette is often still served as it was centuries ago; rich, melted cheese is combined with potatoes, meats, vegetables, and fresh bread for a warming and hearty dish. Though different variations of the meal have emerged throughout the years, and cooking methods have been updated, the distinctive nutty flavor of Raclette has remained remarkably unchanged through time.
Join us at Black Star Farms as we honor this delicious tradition. Before dinner, enjoy a brief discussion on the history of Raclette, learn how it’s produced, and the processes Leelanau Cheese employs to maintain its high standards in cheesemaking. Dinner will be a casual affair with open seating. As you eat and mingle, you can chat with one of the cheesemakers, ask questions, and purchase their award-winning Raclette.
