We're makers of raclette and fromage blanc, crafted using traditional styles and local milk. Leelanau Cheese is a staple business within the local food community in northwest Michigan, and has been for over 25 years. Our cheeses bring the flavors of the region to life throughout the seasons.

History

In 1995, John and Anne Hoyt established Leelanau Cheese and, over the course of 25 years, developed a local and international reputation for their cave-aged, award-winning, European style cheeses.

Current Ownership

In 2021, the business transferred to operating partners Gary Smith and Joshua Hall, whose aim is to produce accessible and quality dairy products which highlight Michigan’s rich agricultural landscape. Smith and Hall, in addition to a group of residential supporting partners, look forward to continuing the legacy of exceptional artisanal cheese production started by John and Anne.

Awards

We're proud to share that our cheese has been recognized for its excellence within the international cheese community.
